Quote of the day: "This then: to photograph a rock, have it look like a rock, but be more than a rock." -- Edward Weston
These are photos I took from April 2007 through July 2007 (during August I was traveling in the western U.S.). Through mid-June most shots were taken with my Olympus SP-350 camera. Around the middle of June I discovered that my Sony DSC-R1 is actually a great close up camera, when coupled with the Sony HVL-F32X flash. The flash allows shutter speeds of 1/400 second and faster, which enables me to hand hold the camera & tripod combination. Although the closest focus distance of the R1 is around 0.4 meters, with the lens at maximum focal length the magnification is acceptable. Once I realized that the R1 could do close up photography (with better image quality than the SP-350), I purchased the Sony VCL-M3367 close up lens to reduce the minimum subject distance. After mid-June almost all photos are from the Sony R1.
