Quote of the day: "This then: to photograph a rock, have it look like a rock, but be more than a rock." -- Edward Weston
One of my main incentives to go on the Western US trip was to return to Yosemite, which I had visited previously in 1991. I felt then--and I still do--that it is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. However, the conditions were much different in August vs. May (in 1991). Most of the falls were dry, or had only a small amount of water. Also, the first few days were cloudless, which is not good for landscape photography. After a few days the clouds began to return, but I did not have time to revisit places I had photographed early on. Still, there are many beautiful sights in Yosemite...
I want to thank the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite for helping me out photographically. By the time I reached Yosemite I knew I needed a few supplies, such as a stronger neutral density filter (to smooth out the waterfalls), as well as some lens cleaning supplies. I arranged for items to be shipped to me at the Ansel Adams Gallery, however the young employee I interacted with apparently did not know that it was against the policy of the shop (understandably, they do not want to be responsible for packages). There was some confusion, but eventually I got the supplies and they helped me very much both in Yosemite and for the rest of the trip.
