Quote of the day: "This then: to photograph a rock, have it look like a rock, but be more than a rock." -- Edward Weston
My original intention was to visit Grand Teton National Park, and then make my way home via South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands). Initially I was a bit disappointed by Grand Teton--it is definitely a great place for wildlife, but something of a letdown compared to Yosemite. I did get a few decent shots, but the more I thought about it, it seemed that I was making a mistake by not visiting Yellowstone, especially since it is so close. So I cut my Grand Teton stay one day short, added 4 days to the trip, and made my way to Yellowstone. Unfortunately, the weather did not fully cooperate with my visit, and I was feeling tired from the altitude and the trip itself. The geysers were interesting but perhaps not as photographic as I had thought. Again, wildlife is probably the main draw for Yellowstone, at least at the end of summer (in the spring both Grand Teton and Yellowstone are probably much more photogenic).
